What Are the Early Signs of Pregnancy?
When it comes to pregnancy, the signs and symptoms are different for every woman. This is especially true in the early stages, when every twinge causes you to wonder whether you’re expecting. Here are some of the most common early signs of pregnancy that may show up before the test turns positive.
6 Early Pregnancy Symptoms
1. Nausea or Food Aversions
Some women experience morning sickness very early on. Even if you aren’t nauseous in the morning, you might suddenly feel repelled at the thought of foods that used to be your favorite.
2. Sore Breasts
If your breasts feel more tender than usual, it could be a sign that you are pregnant. For some women, their breasts feel sore and heavier than usual, and are especially sensitive to touch. You may also notice that your nipples have darkened and the veins in your breasts are more prominent than usual.
Find yourself needing a nap in the afternoon? This could be a sign that you’ll be a parent in the near future. Many women experience unusual exhaustion in the first trimester.
4. Mood Swings
As with other early pregnancy symptoms, mood swings are caused by changes in hormone levels. If you find yourself bursting into tears for no reason or getting irritated at the slightest offense, take note.
5. Frequent Urination
Have your bathroom breaks substantially increased in the past few weeks? When you conceive, increased blood flow to the kidneys causes you to urinate more than usual.
While cramps can also be a sign of PMS, some cramps are due to the uterus stretching to make room for your little one. Very early on, cramps and spotting can be caused by a fertilized egg implanting in the uterus.
